Valerie Sciarra: Music

Run

On RUN, the music was buzzing around in my head and had this sort of frantic feel.  Once the words were added, it slowed down a bit, but I wanted to tap into the head of someone who was about to break free and live an exciting life.  I'm jealous of this girl sometimes...

She put the key in the driver's side door And debated which way she would go. Make a left and be free for a while Or a right down the path she would know. There she sat with her hands on the wheel And the car gently idling in park. Leaving work, she was frozen in time Till she realized it had grown dark. Rain started falling as tears wiped her face... She made a right to that house she called home And the tension was building inside. "Stop the car" said a voice in her head But her Nissan continued to ride. Please listen to me! Now is your chance... Run to a place you can't see, don't you give it a thought. Run till you can't feel your feet, like you'll never get caught. Is the grass always greener or is it black? Go and see for yourself, just, run... She felt her right foot press down on the break And pulled off to the side of the road. How many times could she be in this place Before something would make her explode. There's nothing for you. Fool, don't go home... Run to a place you can't see, don't you give it a thought. Run till you can't feel your feet, like you'll never get caught. Is the grass always greener or is it black? Go and see for yourself, just, run... In a field by the road, what did she see? A beautiful deer running free. She put the car into drive and turned around, Heading straight out of town... Run, run, run, run run, to a place you can't see. Run till you can't feel your feet, don't you look back. You're a fool if you stay, you just go on your way and run... There is nothing for you. Go and see for yourself.
